TDA4VH-Q1: WKUP domain concept

Part Number: TDA4VH-Q1

Tool/software:

From the block diagram, There is initiator and slaves connects to WKUP_ CBASS in VD_WKUP.

#1. What is VD?

#2. What is the initiator? one of the R5F core? which one? what is the special feature of it?

#3. Are salves all peripherals named with wkup_? what is their specific of wkup?

Better have a overview description of WKUP domain.

  • Hi Tony,

    #1. What is VD?

VD stands for Voltage Domain. Please see the 5.2.1 Power Management Overview section of the TRM for further details.

#2. What is the initiator? one of the R5F core? which one? what is the special feature of it?

An Initiator (or sometimes called Master) is a module that can drive transactions on the SoC interconnect bus. All Processor Cores are Initiators. There are also other Initiators in the system like DMA, GPU etc.

Explaination is given right above the diagram you pasted above.

#3. Are salves all peripherals named with wkup_? what is their specific of wkup?

Peripheral devices are all Slaves typically. They can reside in one of the three different Voltage Domains -> MAIN, MCU or WKUP. The TRM usage uses a MCU_ or WKUP_ prefix for the peripherals in those domains, while there is no prefix for peripherals in MAIN domain.

Please see the 1.1.3 Modules Allocation and Instances within Device Domains for a list of the peripheral distribution.
