Hi,

I am currently examining amp for embedded devices.

Is it possible to boot two operating systems on an omap 4430 in amp mode?

The p2020 power processor is capable of amp and there is an implementation in u-boot that makes it possible to boot two os in amp mode. Is there a similar implementation for the omap 4430 cpu? And if not, is it possible and what steps are necessary to implement amp with the omap4430 cpu using u-boot or a different boot loader?

Any information would be helpful.

Yes, it is possible to run two operating systems on OMAP, such as demonstrated here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5zfxAOYa-4&feature=player_embedded I will see if I can find more details on how this was done at the bootloader / kernel level.

Hi Gina,

thank you for your reply. That is a great video and I it would be very kind of you, if you could get more information about this topic or if you could tell me who has more details about the procedure used to get the two operating systems running on an OMAP device.

I think the person in the video mentions that the OSes are running on one Linux Kernel, so I think they are using some kind of virtualization?

In this video, SMP is being used. 1 single instance of Linux is running on both A9, then 2 different user space (Android and Ubuntu). Hence this is not AMP as per the original question. In this example, the Ubuntu X desktop is started from the Android init.rc.
