AM6421: TI SDK 11 build not booting up on custom board.

Part Number: AM6421

Tool/software:

The TI SDK 11 build is not booting on custom board. The board should boot from SD card slot. 

The board is single core, 1 GB RAM.

    Have you validated your custom board with any SDK release? If so, which SDK release? If you have a working boot log for that other SDK release, please attach it.

    Most likely, you custom board is not designed to support UHS SD cards. Please try the following workarounds:

    software-dl.ti.com/.../UG-Memory-K3.html

  • Custom board is up with SDK 9. Now we want to use SDK 11.

    The same SD card build is booting up in EVM board with SDK 11. But it fails the above error on custom board"

  • The same SD card build is booting up in EVM board with SDK 11.

    That is just because the SD card schematics on the EVM is designed to support UHS speed mode.

    Custom board is up with SDK 9. Now we want to use SDK 11.

    The SDK v9 by default used HS mode only for SD card not UHS. The SDK v11 uses UHS mode by default and hence the difference. Please disable the UHS modes to boot successfully.

    I tried with the suggested DTS file changes in kernel at arch/arm64/boot/dts/ti/ The same error is seen.

    Attached the DTS files.

    After building the DTB file, it is copied to the SD card at /root/boot/dts/ti/ And tried to boot the board.

  • I don't see the relevant changes in the U-Boot DTS files. Also, not sure why you shared these many DTS files. You only need to do the changes in the "k3-am64-main.dtsi" file in both U-Boot and Kernel.
