PROCESSOR-SDK-J7200: Code Composer Studio version for RTOS SDK

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-J7200

Tool/software:

Hi all,

I’m setting up the necessary components to start using the RTOS SDK for J7200.

According to the guides, it is recommended to install CCS version 11.0.0.00012 (Processor SDK RTOS J7200). However, I noticed that the latest available version is 20.3.1.

My questions are:

  • Is the latest version fully compatible with the RTOS SDK for J7200?

  • Will it run without issues, or is it safer to stick with version 11.0.0.00012 for compatibility reasons?

I assume the newer version should provide more features and improvements, but since I’m new to this IDE, I’d appreciate your guidance on whether the recommended version is still the best choice.

Thanks in advance!

Santi

  • Hi Santi,

    • Is the latest version fully compatible with the RTOS SDK for J7200?

Unfortunately the latest version is not currently fully compatible with the RTOS SDK for any of the J7 family of devices. You can take a look at FAQ: Is CCS 20.x or Theia supported on TDAx devices for more information.

    • Will it run without issues, or is it safer to stick with version 11.0.0.00012 for compatibility reasons?

It is definitely safer to stick with version 11.0 as that is the CCS version that has been tested and validated fully with the SDK. You could upgrade and test with CCS 12.0 or CCS 12.7 and may have success as it is the same architecture. We have used CCS 12.x with our RTOS SDK on our devices so theoretically it should not be a problem. However, CCS 20.x will not work for your use cases and it is not supported on J7 devices.

    Thanks,
