DRA821U: Urgent Request for Hotfix Patch for CAN-FD Cold Reboot Issue in DRA821U with PSDK 9.01.00.07

Part Number: DRA821U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA821,

Tool/software:

Dear DRA821 Support Team,

My client has been developing a Telematics Gateway Unit using the DRA821U and has recently begun supplying the product to their end users.

The current challenge is that the DRA821U SDK does not support Sleep Mode. To manage long standby times, the unit is powered off and then performs a Cold Boot via a reboot when a new event occurs.

However, when using their baseline PSDK 9.01.00.07 version, the CAN-FD functionality fails to operate after the reboot. The issue does not reproduce when using PSDK 10.01.08.01, where CAN-FD TX/RX operates normally.

Since the CAN-FD interface was not enabled in their PSDK baseline, 9.01.00.07, they applied the DTS (Device Tree Source) from PSDK 9.02.00.04 to confirm operation.

The client's conclusion is that this is a defect in PSDK 9.01.00.07. However, changing the Linux firmware binary in already-produced units to the PSDK 10.x version would require excessive time for SW updates and validation, leading to massive losses.

Therefore, we urgently request a Hotfix Patch to resolve the CAN-FD issue in the PSDK 9.01.00.07 version.

We have confirmed that this issue is also reproducible on the TI DRA821 EVK.

We kindly ask for your support to ensure that the CAN-FD operates correctly even after a Cold Reboot in the SDK 9.01.00.07 version.

SDK 9.01.00.07

  • The same issue of CAN TX/RX failure occurs as on our TGU (Telematics Gateway Unit).

  • Since the CAN interface does not come up in this SDK version, testing was performed after applying the DTS (Device Tree Source) released in 9.02.00.04.

SDK 10.01.08.01

  • The CAN TX/RX failure issue was not reproduced even after repeating the same test more than 100 times.

Thanks.
Best Regards,

Jack
