Hi team,

We are interested in setting up DMA on DRA821 MCSPI channels to improve throughput and reduce delay time between SPI transactions. We need some guidance from TI as to how to enable and setup DMA on MCSPI channels.

We found the DRA821 TRM Rev D sections 12.1.5.4.6 and 12.1.5.4.8 which provide some information on this topic. Our team is reviewing these sections but would appreciate if TI can provide information on register settings to help set it up.

Hello,

They are using the AM335x SPI driver from VxWorks.

DRV_AM35XX_SPI: source/os/psl/ti/ti_sitara/src/vxbTiAm335xSpi.c

Also, here are the specific MCSPI channels and the domain they are looking to set them up in:

MCU Domain -> MCSPI0 – DRA821 to FPGA
MAIN Domain -> MCSPI0 – DRA821 to FPGA
MAIN Domain -> MCSPI1 – DRA821 to FRAM

Why a AM335x SPI sitara driver is being used of jacinto ? what OS is customer using ?

Hi Tarun,

VxWorks is the OS being used from WindRiver. The AM335x driver is what they've implemented on their end for DRA821 given there are minimal changes between it and the latest drivers in our release.

Hello Luke,

As i said AM355X is a sitara vertical and it would be good to raise queries in sitara forum if you have doubts in that driver.

When it comes to DRA821 , we have SPI+DMA PDK driver based on freeRTOS/safeRTOS and MCAL driver based on AUTOSAR.
