Hello,

I'm using ndk_2_20_05_33 for network development and I'm considering an option to use the UDP for my application.

The device is C6748, IDE is CCSv5, bios_5_41_11_38.

What is the fixed maximum size of a buffer I can send over network using UDP in ndk_2_20_05_33?

Hi Anatoly,

From the send() API in the NDK programmer's guide:

For a datagram type socket, the send operation always copies one packet's worth of
data. If the buffer size is too large to be transmitted in a single packet, an error code of
EMSGSIZE is returned.

The size of the payload of a packet is limited to 1500 bytes. So this is the maximum.

So, do I need to perform a fragmentation by myself in my app task, if the size of the desired data to be sent is larger than one you mentioned?

Hi Anatoly,

Have you seen the discussion of Jumbo (>1500 byte) packet support, and the Jumbo PBM in NDK 2.0 in the NDK user’s guide (http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spru523g/spru523g.pdf)?

With jumbo packets, you won't have to perform the fragmentation yourself.
