Questions on the TMDSIPCAM8127J3 IP camera reference design

I am looking at the TMDSIPCAM8127J3 IP camera reference design kit. I have these following questions:

1. In our application, we need advanced features including real-time video stabilization, and if possible, other video analytics features such as vehicle tracking. Are these features already available for this reference design. I understand that some of the advanced features need to be licensed from TI.

2. From other earlier posts, I understand that this kit is targeted for narrow IPNC applications only, why is that ? We want to start with a design kit with the best hardware and software feature set possible, and add our application specific features if necessary.

Could someone from TI's support group reply to my post, and provide me with an email address / telephone number so we can ask other technical and non-technical questions regarding this development kit.

Thanks

  • Hi,

    Comments below

Issue1) We already have video stabilization supported in v1.8. However, this needs more tuning. We will have a better version in upcoming releases. For algorithms like vechicle tracking and other analytic functionlities details, can you please contact you local TI sales for details.

Issue 2)  We are currently at alpha/beta stage of software development, so the features set supported might be less. But 60-70% is already supported in v1.8 of the IPNC RDK software. For the details on the analytic software that run on DSP, please check with your local sales for details. Also, can you please let us know the details of the feature set you are looking for.

  • Hi Raghu, actually it seems many of the features we are looking for are or should be already there according to the specifications, then again I don't know which features are implemented, and which are not. Real-time video stabilization is important, so are vehicle and person tracking, and the region of interest feature with higher resolution around the target to accommodate limited communications bandwidth. I do wish there is an option for multiple video sources from multiple camera modules, is that option available, and if not, how much work is involved to make that happen ?  My last and most important question: I have placed the order three weeks ago before Christmas from Appro Inc. and they told me they are still waiting for TI authorization. How long do I have to wait to get the kit ? I noticed this kit is currently available at Digikey, however Appro Inc. told me they won't provide technical support for the units sold on Digikey, which makes no sense to me. So please advise how I can get hold of this development kit as soon as possible.
