AM3517 OpenGL for GPU

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3517

On the AM3517 is the openGL driver for the GPU available to RTOS vendors, specifically Wind River, QNX and/or Greenhills. I understand it is licensed and the license holder is not interested in working with any RTOS vendors, the driver is only bundled with the Linux distribution. If no driver is available we cannot use the GPU and the A8 will have to take all the workload. I need a statement from TI about how this will work.

  • Derek:

TI is able to license the OpenGL driver sources to RTOS vendors and has already done so in several cases. To address the specifics for each vendor:

    1. QNX has had SGX530 GPU support for a couple of years now.

    2. Wind River licensed the source about a year ago and has either released or is close to release of the driver.

    3. ALT software licensed the software some time ago to develop a port for Green Hills Integrity RTOS. I don't know the exact status but expect that they have a release done by now as they were working on it back last spring.

One other RTOS vendor is in discussions with us about licensing the driver sources, so there will likely be a fourth vendor with support at some point.
