AM62A7-Q1: What are the differences between Firewalls and Initiator Security Controller (ISC)?

Part Number: AM62A7-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM62A7

Hi Ti.

Chip type: AM62A7

MCU SDK version: mcu_plus_sdk_am62ax_10_01_00_33

Currently, I'm reading the functional safety manual. I have a few questions that I'd like to ask.

  1. What are the differences between Firewalls and Initiator Security Controller (ISC)
  2. What's the difference between firewalls and isolation? I feel that their functions are the same.
  3. What are the differences between Slave timeout gaskets and Master timeout gaskets? And how are they different from Safety enabled interconnect

Do these functional safety modules have any example code for verification.

Thanks.

  • Hello,

What are the differences between Firewalls and Initiator Security Controller (ISC)

Please refer to the section "3.1.6 Initiator-Side Security Controls and Firewalls" of the AM62x TRM

    https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spruiv7

This section is missing in the AM62A TRM. However, the concept is the same across the AM62 devices. The section in AM62A TRM will be added in the next revision of the TRM.

What's the difference between firewalls and isolation? I feel that their functions are the same.

The isolation is a concept while the firewalls are an implementation. The firewalls provides the isolation for the configured memory regions.

Looping in safety expert for further clarifications.

    Regards,

    Prashant
