AM2432: Is the protocol stack source code available for the AM2432BSFFHIALVR Industrial Communication SDK?

Part Number: AM2432

Hi,

We are planning to develop a gateway product using the AM2432BSFFHIALVR, which will involve industrial protocol conversion. We chose this chip primarily because of the Industrial Communication SDK it provides.

However, we noticed that the SDK only provides binaries and APIs for the protocol stacks, rather than the full source code. I would like to ask:

  1. Development Flexibility: Will the lack of full source code pose any limitations or hindrances to our development process?

  2. PROFINET Support: Is the PROFINET device demo included in the SDK fully functional? Is it feasible for us to achieve our desired functionality by simply modifying this demo?

  3. Licensing & Costs: Are there any additional costs (such as royalties or licensing fees) associated with using this SDK and its contents? Are there any other paid services we should be aware of?

Looking forward to your reply.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your inquiry.

you are right! our protocol stacks are provided as binaries with APIs, but we deliver different models of support for customers. Please reach out to your sales representatives for more information about support models, licensing and costs.

1&2. Our protocol stacks are fully functional and certified so you should not have problems using them. The demo apps we provide serve as evaluation examples, you can (and you are highly advised to) analyze these demos to verify the available protocol functionalities, and modify them to fit your specific use-case.

    Kind regards,
    Kamil

  • Hello,

Since our project is currently in the evaluation phase, we do not have an assigned sales representative yet. We did try contacting our local sales team, but unfortunately, they were unable to provide the relevant support or information.

This is exactly why I am reaching out on this forum. Could you please kindly provide details regarding the support models, licensing, and costs?

  • would you please send me an email to k-jamal@ti.com

    Thank you and best regards
