HDVPSS address for loggerSMDump.out utility to read debug messages

Is there a way to get HDVPSS debug messages on ARM side ?

I dont think so. If you connect emulator and load the symbols you should be able to see it on ccs console.

I am able to get HDVPSS messages from driver using loggerSMDump.out in ezsdk_5_03.

Please see attached log. So I think I can use loggerSMDump.out to see messages from HDVPSS driver without connecting CCS.

Only thing, I need is to understand the meaning of the address passed to this logger utility.

What does this address indicate ? How can I get proper address for ezsdk_5_11's memory map to pass to logger utility?

The address that you pass is the Physical address of the start of the shared memory where VideoM3/HDVPSSM3/DSP write into and the LoggerSMDump utility reads from this region to give you the prints you have.

There is a backend utility required on the Slaves which do the writing of messages in the aforementioned  shared memory. This has not been integrated in the EZSDK 5_11. If you can look at the latest EZSDK source code release which is comparable to EZSDK 5_11 in terms of features you will have LoggerSM dump functional there. Please talk to your TI representative on how to get source code access.

I am trying to debug some issue , I need the HDVPSS driver messages at the A8 side .  I tried with loggerSMDump.out utility but i can't see the debug messages from the hdvpss driver . I tried setting various debug levels in the OMX application but still no luck .

I am using EZSDK 5.04 ,can you tell me how you were able to get the debug messages from the hdvpss drivers at the A8 side .

HDVPSS doesnt support loggerSMDump. So you wont be able to get HDVPSS debug messages on A8.

Thanks for the reply . Swetha in the above post mentions that she was able to get the HDVPSS driver messages using loggerSMDump utility ,how could that happen if HDVPSS doesn't support loggerSMDump .

Is there any alternative to debug the HDVPSS drivers from the A8 side ,may be using CCS ? If I can debug the HDVPSS drivers from CCS ,Can you please explain me how can i do that .

Hi Siva,

I was able to get all the M3 log messages on ARM using loggerSMDump utility. However, I have not tried with latest ezsdk.

For ezsdk_5_03_01_15, you can run any Openmax demo and run below command to see M3 log messages (VFCC, VFPC and VFDC)

./loggerSMDump.out 0x9E400000 0x100000 all

You may check if memory map has been changed or any other reason why it doesn't work for latest ezsdk.

Hi,

There are two parts of this question. One is to get logs for OpenMax components on Media controller like VFCC, VFDC etc. Other is for HDVPSS drivers logs running on same media controller. Part 1 is implemented and part 2 is not implemented

We are trying to add video decoder into the OMX framework , for which we have written a HDVPSS driver .

I am configuring this video decoder using OMX application but i am not able to capture video . To solve this issue ,I need to debug the hdvpss driver to verify  the settings that i  have done at the OMX application are getting reflected at the hdvpss driver or not .

Can you explain me how can i debug the hdvpss  drivers ?
