TDA4VL-Q1: CddIpcAppRProcLinux mcu uart log

Part Number: TDA4VL-Q1

Dear Ti experts,

I want MCU_1_0 to communicate with A72 Linux.

After referring to these two websites, I was able to get the expected logs running on the Linux side. However, I didn't see any log output from the MCU UART.

I uncommented printf functions in ti-processor-sdk-rtos-j721s2-evm-10_01_00_04/mcusw/mcal_drv/mcal/examples/CddIpcRProcLinux/CddIpcAppRProcLinux.c and set mcu_uart0 status to disabled in $(PSDK_LINUX)/board-support/ti-linux-kernel-6.6.44+git-ti/arch/arm64/boot/dts/ti/k3-j721s2-common-proc-board.dts.

Is it expected that the MCU UART is not outputting any logs? How can I confirm that the MCU is actually receiving and transmitting messages?

  • Hello,

Is it expected that the MCU UART is not outputting any logs? How can I confirm that the MCU is actually receiving and transmitting messages?

Yes it is expected, there are no MCU UART logs for CDD IPC RPROC linux , Once you run the rpmsg_char_simple application on linux and if you are able to see logs on MAIN UART and prints at the end as successfully communicated then it is successful.

A72 sends the message MCU R5F receives the message and echos it back so all the messages are printed on MAIN UART.

  • Hi Tarun,

    Thanks for your reply!

The original demo code indeed didn't print any logs by default.

However, my question is, even after modifying the `mcu_uart0` status to disabled in `k3-j721s2-common-proc-board.dts` on the Linux side and adding the `printf` function in `CddIpcAppRProcLinux.c`, will logs still not be printed to the MCU UART?

    Thanks a lot!

    Alice

  • Hello Alice,

Since you have modified for MCU UART logs

You have look into where this App_print /system_printf is printing to . Not all application have this printing done on MCU UART and also you need to do MCU UART initialisation in CDD IPC RPOC Linux example.
