Using DSP/Bios or SYS/Bios with OMAP l138

Hi All

Our Company just started a new project and we will be using the OMAP L138. we decided to use SYS/BIOS as the operating system for both cores(ARM/DSP). but unfortunately i found out that the current version of PSP V1.3 is not fully supported in the SYS/BIOS. What should we do now? Should we go back to DSP/BIOS and get the drivers support in the DSP/BIOS or there is a current alternative to the PSP with the SYS/BIOS operating system. What is the scheduled dated for the release of the PSP V3.

If we use the SYS/BIOS now, should we write our own drivers.

The PSP team can reply with more advice and details, but per the thread http://e2e.ti.com/support/embedded/bios/f/355/t/155096.aspx, the PSP v3 release is due out at the end of January.

Hi Ahmed,

As Dave mentions, BIOSPSP v3.x is scheduled end of Jan 12. This will have drivers running on DSP/C674x core.

Do you have requirement for any particular drivers?

I want to confirm another point, The PSP drivers are used with IPC only over the Sys/BIOS or i can use the PSP drivers alone in any stand alone project without using IPC APIs.

Hi Ahmed,

BIOSPSP v3.x has to be used along with SYS/BIOS. Some of the drivers (not all) do require IPC also.

Hi Ahmed,

Basically some of the video drivers requires List implementation which is available in the IPC. To make use of this, we need IPC package along with the PSP.
