Hi,

I have used DSP/BIOS 5.33 with CCSv3.3 for DSP C6745/C6747 in previous product lines. I did a query in this BIOS forum for the new ARM Cortex-A8 AM3517 to see if anyone had used the most recent SYS/BIOS6 on AM3517. I got no result therefore I assume I am one of the first fews to try. I downloaded CCS5 with AM3517 device support file and I was able to compile the sample code. I am going to get XDS100v3 USB emulator. I have a general question. Do you have any comment on any issue or something I have watch for with SYS/BIOS6 on AM3517.

Dennis,

Due to some device naming issues, the AM3515 and AM3517 devices aren't officially supported in the SYS/BIOS 6.33.01.25 release.

However, you can work around this issue by selecting the OMAP3530 device and evm3530 platform to build your AM3517 project with.

The AM3517 will be fully supported in the 6.33.02 release due out in mid-February.

Thanks for the inputs, Alan. I am glad that I post the questions. Since I already have the AM3517 EVM (TDMSEVM3517) and I don't have EVM3530, I will wait for SYS/BIOS 6.33.02.

No need to wait.

I believe you can build your application using the evm3530 RTSC platform and it will work for you.

For SYS/BIOS purposes, the two platforms/devices are identical except for the CPU frequency.

You can work around the CPU frequency problem by adding the following to your config script:

var BIOS = xdc.useModule('ti.sysbios.BIOS');

BIOS.cpuFreq.lo = 600000000; /* sets the CPU frequency to 600MHz */

I made the change as suggested. My OMAP3530_CortexA.gel is hang over mDDR_Samsung_K4X51323PC() finction in OnTargetConnect(). I couldn't find AM3517 gel file in C:\TI\ccsv5\ccs_base\emulation\gel directory to see how does it call out for the Micron DDR MT47H64M16HR for the AM3517 EVM. I am thinking the OPMAP3530 EVM is using Samsung DDR which has different clock and other settings than the Micron DDR on AM3517 EVM.

If you have no information on this and I should post to CCS forum, please let me know.

Sadly, I don't have a GEL file for the AM3517 boards. I think you should post to the CCS forum.
