C5535 ezDSp - Power options

I am new to the world of DSP's and have been doing some research on this chip. I am considering purchasing this chip for a real time audio processing project.  Ultimately the project calls for a portable device that can somehow be worn. My question is whether or not this DSP has potential for being operated off of a battery pack? from my research I found that DSP's aren't usually used for portable devices and this DSP seems to only operate via USB connection. If anyone knows of other DSP's that might better suit my needs, your input is much aprecitated!
