Hi,

We are checking the end-to-end latency from ISS Capture to DSS Display on TDA3

Conditions

  • Camera: 30 fps

  • Display: 30 fps

  • Pipeline: ISS → DSS only

Understanding

  • ISS provides a frame only after full frame capture → ~33 ms

  • DSS displays frames on VSYNC and appears to use at least 2-frame buffering → ~66 ms

Question

Is it correct that the minimum inherent latency from ISS to DSS at 30 fps is about:

33 ms (ISS) + 66 ms (DSS) ≈ 99 ms

Also:

  1. Does DSS always require at least 2-frame internally?

  2. Is this latency expected behavior on TDA3, or is there a supported way to reduce it?

    Well, 2 frame is worst case. So it can be slightly less, depending on when you submit the frame to the display. 

    Is this latency expected behavior on TDA3, or is there a supported way to reduce it?

    ISS latency depends on the resolution, so if your resolution is smaller, it can be reduced..
