AM62L: Uboot display limitation

Part Number: AM62L

Does TI have any special requirements regarding the resolution or size of the logo for uboot and kernel loading, such as requiring the width to be 4 pixels or the image size to be less than 4MB?

  • Hi Biao,
By width, I assume you mean the pixel depth? We have tested with 32bpp, but 24bpp and 8bpp are expected to work as well. Do you have the customer requirement on this?

Memory wise, there are no limitations as such, but customer should be mindful of the splash image size during their system design.
Splash image size can be greater than 4MB if needed, but customer's memory flashes (OSPI, eMMC or SD) and DDR memory layout should be designed in such a way to be able to contiguously allocate the splash image at one location offset in case of raw memory.

  • Hi Divyansh,

Thanks for support. Are there any special requirements regarding resolution? For example, if 1280x800 can be displayed normally, will there be any abnormal situations if the resolution is adjusted to an odd number?

    BR,

    Biao

  • Hi Biao,
Odd resolution will most likely not be supported, will check this internally and get back to you.
I would typically expect most standard resolutions to be a multiple of 8, not able to understand why the customer needs to tweak 1280x800 to odd resolution even if it can display normally?
