Yes, to run those SYS/BIOS examples you need to use CCS. How to build and run the examples is described in Bios_Gettting_Started_Guide.pdf in the “docs” subdirectory of the SYS/BIOS install.
If you haven’t seen it, there is a note about using CCS with the EZSDK in the EZSDK FAQ: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/EZ_SDK_FAQ#EZSDK_and_CCS_questions It doesn’t say much, but may be a good place to start.
