AM6442: AM64 profitnet question

Part Number: AM6442

Hi Bharath,

Beow is the AM64 profitnet detail customer wuld like to knwo

  1. In coding view, how did cusomter filter stack between ethernet stack and profitnet stack?
  2. could you provide lwip and lw bridge code example and code location?
  3. Can they sent ethernet stack through icve to a core?
  4. For profitnet application do you have any example?
  5. For profitnet tunneling example we done before, do you have rt linux patch for profitnet tunnelling as this time we use?

Thx
Will

  • Hi Bharath,

Could you give us a concept on how to move ARP from R5 to A53?

Customer would like to separate the eth usecase so they would like to program by themself but need a concept about how to move from r5 to a core.

    Thx

    Will

  • Hi Will,

Could you give us a concept on how to move ARP from R5 to A53?

Can you give some more information here?

ARP is handled by LwIP in R5 and by the Linux kernel in a53 independently. I do not understand what you mean by moving "ARP from R5 to A53".

    Regards,
    Bharath

  • Hi Will,

    1.

In coding view, how did cusomter filter stack between ethernet stack and profitnet stack?

This is up-to the customer to decide. But Profinet requires the use of LwIP for some of its features, so they cannot be completely separated based on profinet frames or Ethernet frames. My assumption is that users would have to dedicate a UDP or TCP socket for non-profinet specific ethernet frames to perform socket forwarding to Linux. AFAIK profinet stack does not have any restrictions on TCP ports but provides a range of usable UDP port numbers (0xC000 to 0xFFFF). These can be used in the application. If customer needs to use a custom UDP dst port number outside of this range, then please use PN_API_IOD_setUdpWhitelist() API to add them in the application.

    2.

could you provide lwip and lw bridge code example and code location?

The tunnel specific source code, is located in the examples\industrial_comms\tunneling folder in the premium ind comms SDK. The bridge functionalities come directly from LwIP module. Please refer LwIP's official documentation for further info.

    3 & 4.

    • Can they sent ethernet stack through icve to a core?
    • For profitnet application do you have any example?

I assume you mean sending Ethernet packets from R5 core to A53 core over the tunnel implementation? If that is your question, then yes, this is possible.
Unfortunately, we do not have an example in the Ind comms sdk for this application. But I believe this could be done referring standard socket programming principles.

    5.

For profitnet tunneling example we done before, do you have rt linux patch for profitnet tunnelling as this time we use?

I do not understand your question here. You can refer to the Documentation to know about the Linux patches used in the profinet tunneling example. Or if you need further information on Linux kernel development, please open a processor SDK specific e2e thread so that the corresponding support team can assist you.

  • HI Bharath,

LWIP Bridge source code, should already give us.

Otherwise how the r50_0 image be build ?

    THX

    Will

  • Hi Will,

LwIP source code is included in the mcu+sdk in the directory \source\networking\lwip. This includes all the source code we pick from open source LwIP repo.

For tunnel specific source code, as I mentioned in the above msg, please refer to examples\industrial_comms\tunneling folder path in the ind comms sdk that was provided to you via patch (this will be part of the premium SDK once released).

    Regards,
    Bharath
