Hi,

We would like different QP parameters (max/min) for different parts of the image (center, background). Currently, I haven't found any parameters for it in v4l2h265enc gstreamer plugin. Is there a possiblity to somehow control it ?

Hi Mukul,

can you take a lot or assign this ticket to someone nevertheless?

TI uses the wave5 vpu in a whole bunch of Jacinto and Sitara SoCs so this is a very generic question not only affecting AM68A.

Could you share SDK version you are using?

Are you using GStreamer?

I ask because The W5_RET_ENC_PIC_AVG_CTU_QP register probably can be read but it will have to be read through a direct driver call protected by a mutex not by an exposed GStreamer control in userspace. Additionally, there is no at runtime functionality to set/modify QP. However, there are at initialization parameters that can be set for minimum and maximum encoding QP.

We are using SDK 10.1 and gstreamer. We are using the configuration for minimu/maximum encoding of QP, but interested to specify different values for whole frame and for central ROI.

There is a method to identify interesting regions through OpenVX framework however, there is no interface to GStreamer and V4L2 as of yet. We don't have any demos for ROI in our OpenVX (RTOS+Linux) SDK but the conformance test for the ROI function (vxCreateImageFromROI) can be found in tiovx/conformance_tests/test_conformance/test.vximage.c and test_graph.c.

OpenVX ROI API definition is HERE.

According to our chip provider, the driver only accumulates the CTU QP values and then reports the average CTU QP value. Therefore, the host cannot directly read individual CTU QP values.
