AM67A: How to configure DDR for AM67A?

Part Number: AM67A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG,

I used SysConfig to generate the k3-j722s-ddr-evm-lp4.dtsi file. Then, where should I place this file and what parts should I modify in order to make it compatible with my own DDR chip?

  • Hi,

Is your question about how to use the AM67A DDR configuration tool, or how to update your software with the output of the tool?

    Regards,
    Kevin

  • Hi,
How to update my software with the output of the tool? It might be related to modifying the u-boot in the SDK, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it.

This is the kernel debugging information after changing to DDR. How should I solve this problem?

  • Hi,

If you slow the LPDDR4 frequency down (generate a new DTSI file), does the issue persist? Note that when you change the LPDDR4 frequency, you also need to update the latency timing parameters.

    Regards,
    Kevin

  • Hi,
I have tried it, but the problem persists. Additionally, DDR has been changed from 8GB to 1GB. Do I need to modify any memory range? Of course, this is just my speculation.

  • I corrected the invalid CMA range in k3-j722s-evm.dts. Then I discovered that it was because the uEnv.txt in uboot used name_overlays=ti/k3-j722s-edgeai-apps.dtbo, which caused the CMA range to be fixed. I want to know if k3-j722s-edgeai-apps.dtbo is necessary. In fact, I have no idea what the function of this file is.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the additional information. Based on this information, I do not believe your issue is related to stability of the DDR interface, but rather a software issue. Thus, I will re-assign this ticket to our software support team.

    Regards,
    Kevin

  • Hi,

I want to know if k3-j722s-edgeai-apps.dtbo is necessary. In fact, I have no idea what the function of this file is.

That will reserve additional regions for edgeAI applications. So if you are not using that you need not use the k3-j722s-edgeai-apps.dtbo.

I hope you are booting to Linux now?
