AM335X-TMW-IEC61850-DEMO: AM335x EMIF Configuration Tool

Part Number: AM335X-TMW-IEC61850-DEMO

Hi, I'm using the AM335x EMIF configuration tool from this link: www.ti.com/.../SITARA-DDR-CONFIG-TOOL-AM335X

It seems to have some problems. DDR memory frequency should be allowed in range 303 - 400 MHz, but it allows a choice of either 303MHz or 400MHz. I worked around that by adding the option I needed to the dropdown list. However then on page "Step 2 - DDR timings" I can only select CAS latency 5 or 6 which is well below the rated speed of the device.

Is it possible that I've made some sort of mistake in using the spreadsheet, otherwise please would you be able to release a fixed version of the spreadsheet or provide the password so I can inspect the formulae in the protected cells and try to debug it myself?

I've tried opening it both in LibreOffice Calc and Microsoft 365 Excel online, behaviour is the same either way.

Thanks,

George

  • George, you might be doing something that is outside of the scope of the tool.  The memory frequency is restricted to either 303MHz (min) to 400MHz (max).  These are the frequencies we did most of our testing and have most history on the device with.  We did not have a supported use case for anything in between, so we intentionally restricted it.  The CAS latency on step 2 is operating CAS latency, which will be typically found in the speed bin tables in the DDR datasheet.  The full rated CAS latency of the device is specified in section 1B of the first tab.
