AM263P4: AM263P4 SPI bus question, Data in/Data out

Part Number: AM263P4

I have a question about the SPI bus signals on the AM263P4 processor.

The AM263P4 processor  has a  SPI0_D0 signal  and a SPI0_D1 signal  for SPI bus 0,   other SPI buses are similar.

The device that I want  to hook up to has  SI ( input to device)  and SO ( output from device).

Please confirm  SPI0_D0  would go to  SI  and SPI0_D1 goes to  SO.

Also I would like to attach a SPI bus from one  AM263P4  to a SPI bus on another AM263P4.

Please confirm this can be done.

One processor would act as the master,  and the other processor would act as slave.

How do the SPI_D0 and SPI_D1 data lines connect from the Master to the Slave  AM263P4?

The SPI0_D0 on the master would connect to which signal on the slave AM263P4?

The SPI0_D1 on the master would connect to which signal on the slave AM263P4?

  • Hi Whitney,

    I have looped in the expert for this topic and they should get back to you with a response early next week.

    Best Regards,

    Delaney

  • Whitney,

    1) Yes, your understanding is correct (with default SDK configuration):

    AM263Px Signal External Device Description
    SPI0_D0 Input AM263P4 transmits -> device receives
    SPI0_D1 Output Device transmits -> AM263P4 receives
    SPI0_CLK SCLK Clock
    SPI0_CS0 CS Chip select

    The default SDK configuration sets D0 as transmit and D1 as receive for controller mode.2: Two AM263P4 Processors Connected

    2) Yes, this is fully supported. The SDK includes both MCSPI_MS_MODE_CONTROLLER and MCSPI_MS_MODE_PERIPHERAL modes. There's even a ready-made example at: examples\drivers\mcspi\mcspi_external_loopback\

    3) AM263P4 Connections

    The D0/D1 lines must be CROSSED because both devices use the same default configuration (D0=TX, D1=RX):

    AM263P4 Controller                                   AM263P4 Peripheral
    ==============                                         =============

    SPI0_D0 (TX) ───────────► SPI0_D1 (RX)
    SPI0_D1 (RX) ◄─────────── SPI0_D0 (TX)
    SPI0_CLK ──────────────► SPI0_CLK
    SPI0_CS0 ──────────────► SPI0_CS0
    GND ─────────────────► GND

    - Controller SPI0_D0 → Peripheral SPI0_D1
    - Controller SPI0_D1 → Peripheral SPI0_D0

    Regards,

    Brennan
