CCSTUDIO: Request for Guidance on Using the IAR Toolchain with the Latest VS Code–Based CCS

Part Number: CCSTUDIO

Dear TI E2E Team,

I’ve reviewed the related application note regarding toolchain integration, and as you know, the latest version of Code Composer Studio has transitioned to a VS Code–based environment. We are currently adapting to this new structure.

One of our customers would like to integrate and use the IAR toolchain within the latest VS Code–based CCS environment. Since this workflow differs from the legacy CCS environment, could you please provide any official guidance, documentation, or recommended steps for enabling IAR toolchain support in the new CCS?

Specifically, we would appreciate clarification on:

  • Whether IAR can be configured as an external toolchain in the current CCS
  • Any required extensions or plug-ins in the VS Code environment
  • Supported device families or known limitations
  • Example project configuration steps, if available

Any guidance or reference material you can share would be very helpful for both our internal team and the customer.

In addition, Regarding SIL certification support,

We understand that, in addition to using IAR, the toolchain itself must also be certified in order to obtain SIL certification. In this regard, we would like to confirm whether the TI CLANG toolchain included with CCS supports SIL certification.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,
Jack
