Memory interfacing in 6713 or 6416

Greetings,

A while back, Spectrum Digital as well as few third party had mad plug in to the Memory Expansion/Peripheral Expansion/Host Port Interface and provide either prototype area or custom functions.  You just need to look for what is available out there with such memory, and use it as memory expansion only.

             The link leads to prototyping boards, but I am looking for external memories. I read the EMIF pdf of DSK6713 and found that it supports SBSRAM, SDRAM, FIFO, SRAM. Can u suggest any third party vendors that sell those memories?

Does TI sell these type of memories?

These are a bit older DSKs.  Spectrum Digital still offer the prototyping board.  Other vendors may have obsoleted their products.  You will need to look on the Internet for plug in products that were offered back then, and try to find a one suitable on eBay.  You may get lucky.

Any comments from the TIers?

              I know these are very old DSK's. But unfortunately we cant buy new ones as they are very expensive. We are sticking to these because both these kits are available in our college for development. They were bought in 2006 or 2008. I do not know the right year though. I also saw TI has removed some of the support for 6713. I'll try ebay if required.

I went through the Spectrum Digital site but they do not offer any memories. There is a company Micron Technologies Inc. that offers SDRAM. But i do not know they are compatible with the DSK. The link is http://www.micron.com/products/dram/sdram and they have the whole catalog of memories. 

Can u find out which memories are best suited for me?

My requirements are: 128Mb or more that is compatible with the DSK

                                        If required I can also use 2 memories also.

The DSK uses Micron MT48LC2M32, which is obsolete and no pin compatible bigger part can be found and added, though you will need then to wire A11 to it.

Contact Spectrum via e-mail or phone and inquire about third party with compatible plug in modules, which, among other thing may have expanded memory, otherwise you will have to get one of those prototype board and build your own, adapted to to whatever device you may then select.
