TDA4AEN-Q1: Do we have additional SW task loading on MCUSS (R5)

Part Number: TDA4AEN-Q1

Hello Expert,

Customer implement an CAN TX polling application on MCUSS (TDA4AEN) for each 10 ms, they found CAN message jitter for every period 120sec, and duration time around 30sec. this jitter "should be" caused by computing power of R5 core.

Measure result as below.

I know there are lots of potential reason for this case happen, so I try to early identify possible root cause.

Few question :

(1) DM task should be runs on main domain DM R5, NOT MCU R5. I think this should be not caused by DM, isn't?

(2) I believe it should be have TISCI client service (communication) task on MCUSS R5, how about the computing resource usage?

(3) I think it could be "RPMsg" communication loading between A Core and R core,  how about the computing resource usage?

Thank You.

  • Hello,

Can you explain the scenario more clearly ? what tasks are running on MCU R5F core. which OS and SDK versions etc ..

    (1) DM task should be runs on main domain DM R5, NOT MCU R5. I think this should be not caused by DM, isn't?

DM runs on WK UP R5F core neither MCU R5F nor Main R5F

I believe it should be have TISCI client service (communication) task on MCUSS R5, how about the computing resource usage?

If you are only using CAN polling then there are no sci client calls needed

  • Hi, Tarun Mukesh

    Thanks your replies.

Short replies your question about Q1/A1 :

    Processor Linux SDK : 10.01.00.04

    Processor RTOS SDK : 10.01.00.04

MCUSS runs FreeRTOS, and A53 runs on Linux.

Customer's MCUSS application is very simple, beside main task (freertos_main) , they create an task w/ priortiy 15, and this task polling CAN message for each 10 ms.

customer suspect it should be have another task running which customer can not control

Do we have any way to debug related problems.

    Thank You.

If there is only one task running which is CAN why will be there any other intervention ? Whatever customer flashes the binary of only that task will run there are no such hidden tasks which customer cannot control.

You can ask customer to connect debug and see if there is any other task running.
