AM263P4: DP83822A bootstrap confirmation

Part Number: AM263P4
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hi Expert,

Could you please review and confirm the schematic below regarding the bootstrap resistor configuration for the two PHY chipsets used in our project?

Target configuration:

  • DP83822A
  • PHY addresses: 1 and 3
  • Interface: RMII

We have:

  • 1st Ethernet PHY bootstrap: Address 1

  • 2nd Ethernet PHY bootstrap: Address 3

If needed, I can share additional details to help verify whether the current bootstrap resistors are correct. I would appreciate it if you could also recommend the correct resistor values for each configuration.

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you,
Moonil

  • Hi Moonil,

Is there a reason why you are using 10M ohm resistors? We typically recommend to keep it OPEN, not use 10M ohm resistors.
Also, what is the pin for RMII_REF_CLK? Clock pins on our PHY do not have strapping option so there is no need to have this net connected to any pullup/pulldown.

    Otherwise, the straps look good.

    Best,
    J

  • Hi J,

Thanks for your feedback. I informed this to our HW team long ago.

I have another question about "Strapped mode" in sysconfig. In my understanding, we need to enable it in sysconfig if we want to configure PHY from HW bootstrap but not FW. However, if we don't want to enable it, do we have to fully configure PHY from FW side. right? then, could you provide a FW PHY setting reference codes or examples? let me know if you need more detail info to provide it.

I am looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks,

    Moonil
