Optimizing DM8168 for HD to SD downscaling

Hi

We are working on an application that needs to downscale video from multiple HD resolutions (1080i, 720p, 1440x1080, etc) to SD (mostly 720x576).

Since the amount of resolution combinations is enormous, we are wondering if there is information on predicting the performance (video quality) of the scaler for a particular scaling ratio.

Are there some scaling ratios ratios that are better than others? Are there ratios we had better avoid?

    Hi,

    We have not done detailed comparison between the different scaling ratios. But in general scaling quality for all the scaling ratios should be comparable. This is because we use different scaling filter settings for different scaling ratios to adjust to change in scaling.  We have not come across scaling ratios that should be avoided.
