Part Number: AM2612
Geetings,
We are looking at the Sitara for a new product. Reading the Data Manual and TRM, I cannot determine the on-chip flash bank size. Where can I find that information?
Thank you,
Ed
Hi Ed,
The AM261x microcontroller does not have an on-chip flash memory. It has on-chip RAM, external flash and TCM memories.

External flash is interfaced over OSPI. We also have something called the OptiFlash which enhances the performance when running application from external flash (to overcome the trade-off of having an external flash)

Shaunak
Thank you Shaunak,
That explains why I couldn't find anything but what you have cited.
When it was certified for 61508, was that for the 2612 only or was it for the system which included particular flash parts?
Thank you,
Ed
Hi Ed,
Since this is an external flash device, the flash is present as a part of the launchpad (Evaluation kit), which is not certified. The AM2612 itself is certified but not the launchpad or evm kits that TI provides. When you choose a flash part, you have to make sure it also meets your safety requirements

Shaunak
Hi Shaunak,
I expected that, but needed to ask just in case. Thank you for the info.
