There is a serious problem.

My cust found the AM62 RT-Linux package is the same with the regulare Linux.

So, my question:

Q1. Do we have the RT-Linux for AM62?

Q2. If yes, why the RT-Linux Kernel is the same with the Regulare one?

plz fix it.

Hello Rio,

Which Linux SDK version are you referring to?

There is a RT Linux release for 12.0 on AM62x: https://www.ti.com/tool/download/PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-RT-AM62X

For 12.0 which just got released, the SHA-256 checksum for the RT and non-RT default images are different:

RT: 7fc1c712a77ae6b3e2219b4cc2bb3f61052162ef17ddf4f57167bf7e76f236f0

Non-RT: f680e75bca5ead324ea8f67e9cb47e24ea7c61f9bb1f5ed058683002d3632805

The only key difference is in the yocto build where the PREEMT config is included for RT Linux.

Hi Anshu:

#1. Can you fix the SDK 11.02?

My cust Project is going to MP, their SW is locked down, and they will have 2 skus : Regular Linux + RT Linux with 11.02.

#2. BTW, if you compare the SDK 11.02 : Regular vs RT, you will find the Kernel are the same ,100% the same, plz help to fix this.

IE: Please offer the 11.02 Linux RT package.

The E2E you shared has this sentence, so, there is no answer for this.

So, what's the next step for this? Still separate into 2 package?

If this, please enable the PREEMP in the RT package.

This will benefit for all the users.

Its already there , You can see from the ti_rt.config on PREEMPT_RT option enablement here and above steps on how yocto packages differently .

Short answer, Its two different kernel configs , hence two different packages .

If your customer project is regular linux >> They should use Regular linux config in their yocto builds

If there are RT linux product >> They should use rt linux config as mentioned

There is nothing to fix , Kernel branch is 100% same , ti_rt.config changes the kernel flavor to Regular vs RT as per the configurations and features enabled, hence two different packages generated and released.
