SK-AM64B: AM64x SK (PROC100A) - Debug console UART COM port no longer detected

Hi,

I'm running into an issue with the debug console UART port (micro-USB) on my AM64x Starter Kit and would appreciate some help.

Issue description:
When I first received the board, the debug console worked correctly — connecting the micro-USB cable to the UART port enumerated the CP2105 and two COM ports appeared on my host PC as expected. However, after some normal usage, the COM ports are no longer detected when I plug in the micro-USB cable. The host PC does not enumerate any device at all (no entry appears in Device Manager, not even as an unknown/failed device).

What I have already checked:
- Tried multiple USB cables (known-good, data-capable)
- Tried multiple host PCs and different USB ports
- Reinstalled the Silicon Labs CP210x VCP driver
- Confirmed the board is powered correctly via the USB-C port (no red LED, board boots normally and other interfaces work)
- The CP2105 area on the board became noticeably hot during earlier use, before the port stopped enumerating

Observations:
The symptoms suggest the CP2105 itself may have been damaged. I am aware of the PROC100A_SCH vs. PROC100A_SCH_With_Design-Updates schematic revision and the related FAQ (E2E thread 1347060) noting that the original schematic had component value and mounting errors that were later corrected.

Questions:
1. Is there a known issue with the CP2105 circuit on the PROC100A revision that could cause the device to fail during normal use (e.g., back-powering through the UART lines when the AM64x is powered but USB is unplugged, or any other condition)?
2. If the CP2105 is indeed damaged, what is the recommended path forward — RMA / replacement, or rework guidance?
3. Are there any usage precautions (power-up/down sequence, cable plug order) that should be followed on PROC100A boards to avoid this failure?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards
