am37 power consumption, linux

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3715

Hi,

Has anyone tried to measure a power on omap3_evm mistral board and linux images from:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php?title=AM/DM37x_Low_Power_Standby_Support.

There is written that VDDS_IO + VDDS_MEM + Memory Supply (J28) during standby mode is 0.09 mV so power is 1.6 mW on this line.

I measured this voltage using the images given from TI (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/images/a/a5/AMDM37x_standby_image.zip, http://processors.wiki.ti.com/images/8/88/Ramdisk.gz) and I can't achieve such value. I observed 1 mV, so it is much higher than value from the site.

Of course measuring manner is not perfect - but it is hard to believe that the multimeter can mix up so much. There is 0 or 0.1 mV on VDD2 and VCORE.

I try to estimate minimal power consumption of AM3715 Processor Module (AM3715 Processor with PoP memory Hynix (H8KDS0UN0MER-4EM)  and the question is:

what is the lowest voltage level on VDDS_IO + VDDS_MEM +... which can be achieved.

I also tried with kernel from git://gitorious.org/rowboat/kernel branch: rowboat-kernel-2.6.37 SHA1ID: 1236e9fe8d7ce11ad71bfee391759528c0601fbf. The J28 (IO + mem) is 1.3 mV.  (but not all power domains have to be put to low state etc. )

My soc rev. is ES1.2

Karol

  • Ok. my fault.

I did not do the proper hardware setup. I leave it, maybe the post will help someone. There is 120 ohm resistor on the processor module board rev D which can cause current leak. It is written in TI wiki but I missed it.
