CCSTUDIO: Java NullPointerException at C/C++ indexer

Dear TI,

I am using CCS 12.8.1.0005 since September of 2025 on W11 as editor & debugger. My main project is huge and build system runs on WSL2. Yesterday I got the message from CCS: java.NullPointException at C/C++ indexer. My project shown as opened in ProjectExplorer without content.

I have tried to restart CCS, PC, changed CCS workspace without success.

I wanted but could not upload the CCS log file, here is the beginning:

Please, help me fix this problem!

Hello Kalman,

Please try clearing the CCS cache as described in section 9.4.2 of the user's guide:

Another suggestion is to rebuild the index:

https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/users_guide_12.8.0/ccs_project-management.html#rebuild-index

Please note that CCS 12 is no longer supported. Hence the support we can provide for this obsolete version will be very limited.

Hello Ki,

thanks for your hints. Unfortunately they did not solve my problem. Moreover I have seen a other message: Editor could not be initialized.

I have installed CCS 20.5.1, fixed the endless initialization issue successfully, but do not find Import existing code as makefile project function, what I need.

Please provide the <WORKSPACE FOLDER>/.metadata/.log file.

CCS Theia (20.x and greater) no longer supports this functionality.

Since you are not using CCS to build, open a folder to the makefile location (and other source folders) instead so you can work with it to edit and debug.

Hi Ki,

I have managed to fix the original problem with CCS12!

I started Eclipse IDE for Embedded C/C++ (2023) and tried to open my WSL2 project there. It was able to open it AND CCS is OK since that!
