TM4C129LNCZAD: microcontoller product selection guide

Part Number: TM4C129LNCZAD

we currently use a TM4C129LNCZADT3.  For a new product we do not need the display capability or motor control type of PWM.  However we need lots of D/A.  The TM4C Microcontroller Product Selection Guide only list "analog" but i could not fine if there were any D/A.  Does the Tiva have D/A converters? some people here think we need to stick with TM4C for simplified firmware redo.  I have yet to find an adventage ARM since the peripherals change anyway.

Can you recomment a microcontroller that has multiple D/A converters? We are going to need at l4ast 6 of them.

  • Hello,

I don't know if there's a specific Tiva device that has D/A converters. I'll send this to the C2000 teams to check if they have something that can fit these requirements.

If you're not sized constraint an external D/A converter could also work. We could recommend a smaller MCU that can just control the D/A converter and some other peripherals like an MSPM0C or MSPM0G.

  • I am not opposed to the MSP as I have used them before.  However I am going to be asked how portable is the firmware from the Tiva to MSP?  I understand the D/A would be all new but would the A/D, ethernet, serial SPI, I2C have to be re-written.  I understand the peripherals will change.

  • Hello,

C2000 MCU has up to two buffered DAC but there are several EPWM module (as many as 18 modules) that can be used as PWM-DAC with RC filter. C2000's ePWM module has high resolution (HRPWM) mode that can provide step size as low as 75ps (most common 150ps). This small size enable to operate the PWM at high frequency that reduces filter and finer adjustment.

Let me know if any questions.

    Regards,

    Sumit
