AM5706: Internal pull-up/down behavior when MUXMODE is set to "Driver off"

Part Number: AM5706

I have a question regarding the pin configuration of the AM5706.

Could you please clarify the final electrical state of the internal pull-up/pull-down resistors when a pin's MUXMODE is configured as "Driver off"?

In Section 4.2 "Pin Attributes" of the datasheet , there is a note regarding "Driver off" mode:

In driver off mode, the buffer is configured in high-impedance.

On the other hand, the table defines "PD" and "PU" for the "BALL RESET REL. STATE" column as follows:

PD: High-impedance with an active pulldown resistor

PU: High-impedance with an active pullup resistor

If a certain pin has a BALL RESET REL. STATE of "PD" or "PU", and its MUXMODE is configured as "Driver off", which of the following is the correct understanding of the pin's final electrical state?

 (A) The internal pull-down/pull-up resistor remains enabled, and the pin becomes high-impedance (meaning the "High-impedance with an active pull" state is maintained).

(B) The pin becomes high-impedance, but the internal pull-down/pull-up resistor is disabled (disconnected) .

  • Hi,

     (A) The internal pull-down/pull-up resistor remains enabled, and the pin becomes high-impedance (meaning the "High-impedance with an active pull" state is maintained).

When active PU the pin drives the logic High, and during PD pin drives logic Low signal but, these pin are technically in a high-impedance state relative to an output driver, based on external drive pin will carry logic Low/High.

    (B) The pin becomes high-impedance, but the internal pull-down/pull-up resistor is disabled (disconnected) .

When off state pin will be in high-impedance i.e. floating extrnal PD/PU are recommended as needed.

    Best Regards,
