usb VBUS: if I connect the power of the usb host to 5V,does it work proper?

My old device the usb host is in the human-computer interface board, the power of the usb host  is connected to 5V.

Now I want to update my cpu board.,If I use am35xx,the USB is required to supply a 5V power source to an attached device through its VBUS line.But I can not change the the human-computer interface board.What can I do?
