Unable to connect to EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320VC5507, ADS1298

Hi,

I am new to using TMS320c5507 DSP and CCS. I have an EVM with TMS320vc5507 DSP and i downloaded CCSv5.1.1. I installed it and am trying to connect the board to the PC. But i am getting an error 'SC_ERR_POD_OPEN' . Am trying to connect using the on board JTAG emulator, but i am not sure what JTAG my board has(i.e.XDS100v1 or v2 or something else). Can u help me solve my issue please? I am in a kind of urgency,so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • What kind of EVM do you have? Who made it?

C5507 is in the same family with C5509. Spectrum Digital's sales C5509A DSK and EVM. You can find examples and Gel file via:

    Regards.

  • Hi Steve,

First of all many thanks for the reply.

The board is a TI made.It is written on it as 'MMB0 MODULAR EVM MOTHER BOARD REV C '. It is actually paired with ADS1298 as part of the Medical Development Kit. I tried using the Gel file but with no success.I actually read in the TI's documents about EVMs that they have an on board Jtag emulator using which we can program and debug the DSP with the help of USB B cable. How do i know if the board i have has such on board emulator(Is the on board emulator a chip which has a number so that i can check online). If it has one how do i know which JTAG emulator it is? (like XDS100v1 or v2 or v3 or anything else). I need this information to generate a target configuration file and use it for testing the connection. Following is the image of the board.

    Awaiting your reply.

    Regards,

    Dilip.

  • I cannot make out of the board's name. Do you have any documents/CD come ith your package?

As a reference, this is a picture of a 14-pin JTAG connector (J8) and the on-board USB emulator (J3). They should have marked as JTAG emulator as in J8 here.

  • I got similar error..after lot of debugging(reinstalling CCS..etc)..I tried replacing the USB connector and it worked ;-)
