Capture Port Randomly Hangs and Recovers

Expert 2220 points

Hello I am currently working with DM8168 using V4L2 to capture on both video ports. There seems to be a random hangs when I try to dequeue a buffer from the video driver. I noticed that there is a bugfix mentioned in the saLoopback example stating that there is an "IP". Has any progress been made in resolving this issue? What we are seeing is that when we go to dequeue a buffer it can hangs for up to a minute and then resumes normally. I am currently using the .13patch2 version of the kernel. Would moving to the .14 version improve this situation? Could you clarify to the best of your knowledge what is happening when this bug occurrs?

Thanks,

Ben

  • Hi,

We have never seen a case when it hangs for minute and then recovers. It hangs if you do connect and disconnect. You have to apply reset and restart sequence to overcome that hang. This is explained in userGuide and demonstrated in V4L2 saLoopBack application. Are you seeing this with saLoopback standard application or your application?
