DM814x/AM387x Mistral Schematic Discrepancy with datasheet,

On page 36 of the attached eval module schematic, it shows pin M22 (VDDA_1P8) connected to rail HDMI_1V8. However the datasheet shows this pin to be the same function as pins VDDA_1P81 through VDDA_1P87, which in the schematic are connected to rail VDDA_1V8.  I would expect M22 should also be connected to VDDA_1V8.  It looks like this circuit shorts these two power rails. Please can you confirm that this is a schematic error.

  • Hi,

VDDA_1P8 group is used as1.8V power supply input pin for different on chip LDOs.

In VDDA_1P8 group i think it doesn't mean that  all pins of  VDDA_1P8 group are internally connected. For confirmation i checked continuity between   both the  power rails VDDA_1V8 & HDMI_1V8(corresponding to pin M22) on the DM814x EVM & observed both are independent.so feeding HDMI_1V8 to M22 pin won't be a problem.

    Nanthan.

  • M22 was originally designated to power a feature which eventually was not implemented, so in theory it can be connected to either.

The recommendation is to NOT connect it to the HDMI supply though since there is a possibility that it can introduce additional noise to the HDMI PLL supply.

    This is not critical though.
