J722SXH01EVM: Pbist memory in SBL

Hello. I referred to the Pbist example in the SDK and attempted to run Pbist in SBL, where SBL runs on the wkup-r5fss0-0 core. The execution cases of Pbist include SDL_PBIST_INST_MPU ~ SDL_PBIST_INST_MCU, totaling 12 instances.

Our tests revealed that after executing the cases SDL_PBIST_INST_WKUP_PBIST1 and SDL_PBIST_INST_MAIN, there would be problems with the loading of the OSPI image, as shown in the following error message: ASSERT: 0.636553s: ospi/v0/dma/udma/ospi_dma_udma.c:OspiDma_udmaUpdateSubmitTR:243: FALSE failed!!! .

Therefore, I would like to inquire: Is this a normal phenomenon? Which PBIST instances can be executed within the SBL?

Hi Chen,

The SDL_PBIST_INST_WKUP_PBIST1 instance is destructive to the WKUP R5F core and cannot be tested from SW. This instance is covered as a part of the HWPOST at startup during ROM boot.

The SDL_PBIST_INST_MAIN should not cause any interference with the OSPI module. Can you try testing without the WKUP instance?

"Room boot" should be a fixed program. What approach should we take to enable the SDL_PBIST_INST_WKUP_PBIST1 instance to run during the Room boot process?

And I have tried to execute only the SDL_PBIST_INST_MAIN instance without executing the other instances, but it still affected the loading of the OSPI image.

It is enabled by default. You would have to check the result from SW. You can use the SDL_PBIST_getPOSTStatus() API.

Are you using any MMCSD related operations? The PBIST_INST_MAIN tests the following IPs and can be destructive to them -

These are IPs that we are currently using on the PBIST_INST_MAIN instance.Two MMCSDs are used inside.The following IPs, are there any others that might be destructive OSPI?

Hi Josiitaa,

I have modified the aux device list and conducted a test. The result is the same.

When using OSPI to read flash data, there are no any MMCSD related operations.

Hi Chen,

The aux list is not be modified. Each PBIST controller tests a specific set of IPs and the necessary IPs must be in an isolated state before the test is run. That is what this aux list takes care of. Changing the list to something different from that in the SDK can cause issues.

Thank you for sharing the information. But I still don't understand why the PBIST_INST_MAIN instance would affect the OSPI UDMA. Are there any solutions?

Hi Josiitaa,

Perhaps the problem has been resolved. If I execute the PBIST_INST_MAIN instance before initializing the peripheral and opening, this problem will not occur.

Yes, that is the case for all PBIST and LBIST. It is to be done before the IP is in use, in an isolated state.

I would like to ask you one more question.The status I obtained by using the SDL_PBIST_getPOSTStatus() API in SBL is SDL_PBIST_POST_NOT_RUN. What could be the reason for not enabling the HW POST PBIST?

We are able to reproduce this issue. I have raised an internal bug to fix it. It is expected in the SDK release 11.2.2 in September.
