Execution time with device Simulator of DM6437

Hello,

I'm working with the device simulator of DM6437 on CCS v5.1 and i did a small application with C6FLo which makes a MedianFilter on a set of data.

Everythings seem to works since i get a correct output but now i will evaluate the real time needed to process the median filter in order to benchmarking the application.

I've no idea how to do that. Here is a picture with the LOG_printf output and CPU load graph.

I tried to put a Log-printf before and after the call of the median filter for exemple on this picture time 3 and 4.( Do not pay attention to the time 2 with the error).

So what is the unit of time in Log-printf? It's seem that there is only one time unit to process the median filter??????? It's not possible.

How to get the real time?

On the cpu load graph the time is in "ns" is it true time?

I set the clock speed of the CPU to 600MHz in the ccxml and tcf file.

Hi,

Do you have timestamps enabled for logging?

Instead of opening up RTA, you can look at ROV and see the timestamp in the log records there also. On the DM6437's DSP, the timestamp is a 1-1 mapping of CPU cycles.

Thank you for your answer,

i enable the timestamp for log as you mentioned above.

I open the ROV but nothing appear on it. My Log_printf only appear on the printf logs tab of RTA.

Here is a picture which show that:

What is the unit of column time in Printf Logs? It seem to be only the same as seqID...

The ROV doesn't display anything in trace...

If you do not open RTA, the log records stay on the target and can be viewed with ROV. I'd like to confirm what is on the target first and then look at the RTA output.

Basically, I want to confirm that the records are getting the proper timestamps on the target. If they are not, I expect it is because the BIOS clock tick is not being driven properly.

I close the RTA tab and now i have the ROV which display my Log_printf but without any Timestamp

I did a project with C6Flo (blank project) and add the 64pSimApp framework and add 3 blocks (see picture) to do a median filter.

I use the DM6437 simulator Little Endian.

So there is only one thread (thread 0) which compute a median filter.

I want to know the time needed to compute the median filter.

So i put a log_printf before and after the function which compute the median filter.

What does your clock configuration look like? Can you attach your .c and .tcf?

I don't know why but today i have the time stamp in ROV,

I just come back this morning and reboot my computer...

So it's okay, i join my .tcf file and .c file just for exemple.

Just to be sure can you tell me what is the unit of the timestamp?

You can take a look to my .tcf file to watch the clock configuration.

Hi Max,

Glad to hear it is working. The unit of the raw timestamp is 1-1 of the CPU speed on the DM6437. For example, 700,000 timestamp units is 1 millisecond on a DM6437 that is running at 700MHz.
