Customer question on verifying Ethernet throuput on the TMDXEVM3358

I just got the TI demo board. In linux how can I get to command shell? I need the command shell so I could add routes and check status of ports. I cannot do any speed test with graphical interface. Basically I need just linux kernel and a dumb terminal interface.

If you got EVM kit there should be a quick start guide that describes how to hook up a serial cable. But, first does your PC have a db-9 connector on it?

Questions:

1: When I do ifconfig eth is not there, It needs to be enabled and I do not know how.

2: How do you turn the unit off. I searched it the menu but did not see anything so I just use on/off switch.

Can you type in

ifconfig -a

That will list all network interfaces. I suspect you might see an eth1. If so, can you delete the file /etc/udevd/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and then reboot.
