DP83TG721EVM-MC: DP83TG721EVM-MC Automotive Ethernet Setup - Link Up but no ping

Part Number: DP83TG721EVM-MC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM62A7,

We are working on AM62A7 based custom board with TJA1120A Auto Ethernet PHY.

We connected DP83TG721EVM-MC AutoEthernet to our Custom Board. Link was detected.

When i Ping from my laptop, i can see LEDs on my custom board blinking. But ping dosent succeed.

Kindly help us if anything more needs to be done since its Automotive ethernet and autonegotiation is not supported here.

  • Hi Vignesh,

    A few things to check:

    • Verify that laptop is linked up with media converter at 1000Mbps.
    • Check packet counter registers on DP83TG721, 0x639-0x63E.  This will indicate if PHY is receiving/transmitting packets and will also indicate if any FCS errors are detected.

    Thanks,

    Drew

  • Its working now, we just changed to RGMII-TXID for NXP TJA1120A. Pinging fine, no issues at all. We tested with 1Gbps speed on iperf3

But according to you 0x639 should increment,it dosent increment while Pinging from Board to PC

Just asking since you mentioned about this register

    Thanks,

    Vignesh

  • Hi Vignesh,

Could you try reading these registers in sequence?  This should enable clearing the registers, which will give us a better perspective.

You can save below as txt file and load it as script for USB2MDIO.

    begin

    0639
    063A
    063B
    063C
    063D
    063E

    end

    Thanks,

    Drew
