TDA4VH-Q1: Whether TDA4VH XFI interface can support PRBS the error bit inject test and MAC loopback test?

Hi experts:

 

Our customer are using TDA4VH SERDES1 lane2 and lane3 connect XFI switch at their design. Now they want to run the XFI PRBS error inject test, because the broadcom switch support this function. but search our TRM i just find PRBS enable bit, do not find PRBS error bit inject register. Does we support PRBS error bit inject test, if we support it could you please share with us the enable method.

If TDA4VH do not support PRBS error bit inject,  could you please check CPSW0 TX_SCR_LOOPBK_EN bit can enable TDA4VH serdes XFI interface directly forward all RX package to TX interface? If enable this bit, TDA4VH can directly forward all XFI received data to TX interface, we can use switch provide PRBS error bit inject function test SI at customer side.

    Hi Han Tao,

    During our internal testing, we have done the PRBS31 enabled on the Transmit pins. However, this goes through several different functions to setup the SERDES, clocks, lanes, reset, loopback etc.

    would it be possible to have a binary sent out to test it with the appropriate lanes enabled? Please let me know.

    We have tried the firmware you provided and the e-switch side could not lock the prbs checker ,so it did not work.

    Hao Wang,

    Thank you for the information. I have replied to Han Tao's email. We will setup a call and debug. 

    I think it will provide an opportunity to understand the setup better and do a live debug.

    We can try different ref clk, or different loopback setup. Need to ensure that the TX is sending out the PRBS to the switch. What is the ref clk being used?

    Hi Rao:

    Could you please check whether XFI PRBS can support error bit inject feature? I has searched TRM and register table. 

    I believe TDA4VH do not support error bit inject, just can find those loopback/PRBS31 generate setting.
