Extending DTMF code generation technique described in SPRA096A - May 2000

Hi,

Im a totally newbie in DSP. I ve an application using telephone line interface which is used to transmit/receive mulitple frequency tones..within 0-4kHz

In the transmitter side i need to generate multiple frequencies say up to 4 frequencies according to certain conditions and transmit them simultaneously over a single channel.

And on the receive side i need to identiy which all frequency contents are present in the channel and take appropriate decision.

I ve seen a application report namely SPRA096A - May 2000 describing DTMF generation, can that technique be used to extend the generation for more than two frequencies simultaneously.

Also on the reception side is it good to take an FFT of the entire input signal or implement channel filters inside DSP ( i think i ve read so) ?

Thanks for any help & suggestions
