CCSTUDIO: CLB

Part Number: CCSTUDIO
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Good evening, I'm an experienced Electrical Engineering in Power Electronics and Control, with more than 20 years of experience in Power Electronics, DSPs and FPGA/CPLD (Xilinx+VHDL).

I have projected a lot of multi MVA NPC systems (AFE and Inverters) with DSP + FPGA and I would want to try CLB, I have tried a lot of times but never got a system working so I continue to add the CPLD that are much easier to work, at least until I understand how to use the CLB.

Right now I'm working on a new 20MVA Cold ironing system with 6 F28379D, each one controlling a NPC inverter with a NPC AFE and syncronized with the other 5 DSPs. I've tried to use the CLB but decided to use the more simple CPLD at the output of the DSP PWM, after trying for too much hours to deal with the CLB.

The first question is what is the version of the tools that you have tested that works with CLB? CCS 21? and the C2000Ware?

I m trying to follow spruir8b, looking at the released date (july 2023) i have installed CCS 12.7.1 with C2000Ware 5.02, is that fine?

When arriving at page 17, section 3.5.1 of spruir8b, I dont see anywhere the statics panel of the simulator with the simulation options, could you help me?

I am also a teacher at the University of Genova in Italy and I would be very happy to teach not only the classical use of the F2837xd but also the CLB at my students if I understand how to deal with this CLB and also, if you want, to share with you the material produced for the classroom with the newer versions of CCS and C2000Ware.

regards,

  • Hi Luis,

We always recommend that you use the latest versions of CCS and C2000Ware, right now those would be CCS 21.0.0 and C2000Ware 26.1.0.

In regards to the simulation options, I am currently using Syscfg version 1.27.0 but the newer versions will be similar. At the top of the TILE tab within syscfg, you can select the drop down box titled "Global Parameters", once opened the "simulation options" will also be available for you to change as needed.

More information about the CLB and even a few labs can be found at our C28x Academy.

    Kind regards,
