AM6548: DRAM Scrambling fix plan

Part Number: AM6548

Hi Expert,

This GitHub repository is an open-source research project named "skitter-creek-bath-salts", released in 2026 by Christopher Domas (better known by his handle @xoreaxeaxeax), a prominent hardware and reverse engineering security researcher. At its technical core, the project explores how to exploit hardware flaws related to DRAM Scrambling (a data shuffling/obfuscation mechanism) to completely bypass all low-level CPU security defenses, thereby unlocking and reading the system's most deeply protected, core data.

My customer want to check with us about our fix plan in AM6548, can you help check it?

  • Hi Biao,

Based on the research report available, it describes a potential issue affecting certain early AMD Family 15h and 16h processors. It looks like there's no verified report pointing the similar issue on the ARM-TZ based SoC (i.e. AM65x).

    Best,
