AM5728: Source code of TI IPUMM/H264 encoder

Hi,

Where is the source code of the TI H264 encoder located (what runs on the IVA-HD subsystem)? I am looking into porting the hardware accelerated encoding and its pipeline to run on Linux Kernel 6.12, since the support by TI has been dropped in latest SDKs. That source code would help me in doing that.

Are you intending to develop a native Linux IVAHD stack or trying to use the IPUMM firmware with Linux on 6.12 kernel?

Ok. The IPUMM firmware usage with Linux uses/needs the rpmsg-rpc driver. This was an out-of-tree driver in older TI Kernels, and this driver has not been supported since a number of TI SDKs (last supported kernel version was 5.4). This driver port to 6.12 is not at all a trivial effort, as the DMA infrastructure callbacks that this driver used have been removed from the upstream kernel.

Unfortunately, TI will not be able to provide any support on this driver port.

My recommendation would be to stick to the SDK that supported this out-of-box, unless you can port the driver yourself. Please see the following git tree for the rpmsg-rpc driver related commits on 5.4 kernel,
