AM625: Inquiry regarding silicon fix plan for MDIO Errata i2329 on AM62x processors

Hi TI E2E Team,
We are currently developing a product based on the AM62x processor and are aware of the MDIO interface corruption issue described in Errata i2329.
While the software workaround using manual mode (bit-banging) provided in the Processor SDK resolves the stability issue, it introduces limitations such as restricted MDIO clock speed and increased software overhead due to polling.
Could you please provide information on the following questions:
  1. Is there a plan to release a new silicon revision (e.g., a new stepping) for the AM62x family that permanently fixes Errata i2329 in hardware?
  2. If a hardware fix is planned, what is the estimated schedule or timeline for the availability of the updated silicon?
  3. If there are no plans for a silicon fix, is the manual mode bit-banging workaround considered the final official solution for the lifetime of the AM62x?
Any insights or roadmaps you can share regarding this matter would be highly appreciated, as it will significantly impact our long-term hardware and software design decisions.
Thank you for your support.
Best regards,
Jack Cha
  • Hi Jack,

I am looking into your questions presently.

    thanks,

    James

  • The silicon fix for this was identified and corrected in subsequent Sitara MPU processor family devices (ie AM62Ax, AM62Px, AM62Lx) and there won't exist similar errata i2329 in those product families.  However, there is not present plans to release new silicon revision to AM62x family.  In short the answers to your questions would be :

    1. No present plans to release a new silicon revision

    2. N/A

    3. Yes the errata i2329 is the work around for this
